Hey there! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted- I’ve been deep in the studio, cultivating new projects and patterns. In the meantime, my good friend Ebony Love asked me to watch her new DVD with F&W called Die Cutting for Beginners.
I’ve had a Sizzix Fabi sitting in my studio giving me googly eyes for the whole ummer, so I felt like this was the perfect opportunity for me to learn how to properly use my machine. It’s a pretty intuitive little machine, but there are always tips and tricks to help effectively use fabric. I had no idea that there were different methods to folding your fabric to ensure that you get the most accurate cut and use the fabric with the least amount of waste. I paid close attention to the fan-folding versus stacking and really felt like I received a lot of valuable information that segment. Also, I felt pretty foolish after seeing that Ebony has marked her dies with silver sharpie so that she can see where the blades are. HELLO?! So simple, yet I wouldn’t have thought of it myself. D’oh.
I tried my hand at my own little project- I’ve been dying to use this 5 1/4″ equilateral triangle die. There’s no way in hell that I would individually cut these by hand. Imagine my delight when EACH AND EVERY TRIANGLE WAS THE SAME SIZE. I live a simple life, y’all. These things blow my mind.
You, too, can watch this awesome DVD and get some die cutting knowledge dropped on ya- leave a comment here and I will pick a winner on Monday. OR you can follow along with the rest of the blog tour for more chances. RULES: US residents only, only one entry to win, winner randomly chosen from number generator on Monday, July 27th. YEE!
SUNDAY- WEBINAR: Die Compatibility
Ebony, the DVD is great. Your voice is soothing and I was able to keep focused while learning something valuable to my trade. I thank you for inviting me on this tour!
