Bella Caronia Spring Bloom GIVEAWAY!

Hey there! As I write this, I feel an overwhelming sense of guilt for not checking in with everyone sooner. I’m alive! I’m productive! Things are great! My friend Amanda Caronia is a designer for Windham Fabrics under the name Bella Caronia and has created a gorgeous new collection! It’s called Spring Bloom and its name is an apt description of this beautiful group. Spring is in full swing here in Grass Valley–this couldn’t be more perfect!

Amanda asked me to create an original piece using the Spring Bloom fabrics. I immediately thought of my best friend. She is expecting her first baby and I am over the moon about it. I really, really hope it’s a girl, so I decided that if I just keep making her baby girl quilts, the Universe will comply. I also decided that she and her husband are going to name their baby Hermione. I keep texting them, asking how my little wizard is doing. They’re being really good sports about it. After 14 years of friendship, this is nothing new to them.

This quilt uses my Hide and Seek pattern, which uses 30 5” squares. Since the Spring Bloom collection is 15 pieces, I thought each fabric could be represented twice and it would be a great way to show off the prints. I used Marcia Derse’s new basic, called Palette, as the sashing. When I was a teenager, this was my favorite shade of pink, so it brought back a happy memory as I was stitching the top.

Here’s a little shot that shows you some of the quilting detail.

I have decided that this quilting style, the Darlingique feather meander, is my signature, and I love that each time I do it, the design ends up slightly different, yet keeps it consistent.

Amanda and Windham were sweet enough to give me an extra fat quarter bundle of the complete Spring Bloom collection to give away! If you would like to win the Bella Caronia Spring Bloom bundle, leave me a comment sharing one of your favorite spring time experiences. Is it the new growth everywhere, the kids on bikes downtown on the weekend, or not turning on your heater? Leave me your thoughts and I will pick a winner on Monday.

Thanks Amanda, Windham, and all of you, for making this such a fun project!

PS If you would like to order the Hide and Seek pattern, I’ve got it for sale here. xoxoxo

  1. Jessica, unfortunately spring in Florida last maybe one day and then we go right into 90 degree weather, so with that said , outside activities like bike riding and gardening are best done after 530 pm. Some people prefer early morning buts it’s too humid.

  2. I love the blooming trees and flowers and the days when the sky is bright blue! Spring is a wonderful time to be outside taking photos.

  3. My favorite springtime experience is the first time that it’s warm enough to leave the house without a jacket on. The quilt you made for your friends’ baby is so bright and colorful and I’m sure it will be used and loved a lot! Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win some of this beautiful fabric!

  4. I love getting up early and taking my tea out to the front porch to listen to all the birds filling the air with their songs.

  5. I love going for country walks with my husband and kids. It is nice to get to smell the fresh air. I also enjoy watching the farmers plant their fields and watching the hard work fruit.

  6. My favorite part of Spring is all the baby animals! My not so favorite is all the budding trees and flowers – lovely to see but they make me sneeze. Hence, floral fabrics are lovely! Thanks for sharing such a bright project. Notwendy gmail

  7. I love being able to change to lighter weight clothes….and shed my socks at bedtime. I also love the unpredictability of spring…bright and warm one day, a surprising little retreat into winter the next and then the return of warmer weather again. Beautiful quilt and I love the hot pink borders and sashing. Your quilting is lovely.

  8. I am excited about beginning our local farmers’ market as a vendor again. All the sights and smells of spring produce and our regular customers after a long winter is fun.

  9. My favorite all time spring thing is sitting on the back patio in the mornings with coffee and the paper (any more my computer is the paper). After a season of indoor heated air, the fresh, crisp morning air is so refreshing – and seeing the bulbs coming up and buds on the trees, can it get any better than that?

  10. My favourite spring experience has to be opening the curtains on a sunny morning and finding that the lawn is finally carpeted with wild primulas in full bloom. Then I know that spring has finally arrived. I love your quilt, the pink was a wonderful choice for the background, so bold but also really showcasing the fabrics. Thanks for sharing and for the giveaway.

  11. I love all the lovely spring flowers of which the fabrics remind me. Wishing the flowers could stay a little longer, but of course the fabrics will be here to always remind me of the seasonal flowers I enjoy so much.

  12. I would say, for sure, it’s the arrival of the crocus. As soon as I see those popping up I know that winter is really, finally on it’s way out and I can rest assured warmer weather is on it’s way! Thanks and the quilt is adorable. coudre at

  13. I always love the changing of seasons. It’s actually autumn here – I am enjoying the cooler breezes when I am in the garden.
